With ten multi-platinum albums and sixteen Top 30 hits, Foreigner is universally hailed as one of the most popular rock acts in the world and a formidable musical arsenal that continues to propel sold-out tours and album sales, now exceeding 75 million. Responsible for some of rock and roll’s most enduring anthems including “Juke Box Hero”,  “Feels Like The First Time”, “Urgent”, Head Games”, “Say You Will“, “Dirty White Boy”, “Long, Long Way From Home”, and the worldwide #1 hit, ”I Want To Know What Love Is”, Foreigner continues to rock the charts more than thirty years into the game.

At Foreigner’s core is founder and lead guitarist Mick Jones, the visionary maestro whose stylistic songwriting, indelible guitar hooks and multi-layered talents continue to escalate Foreigner’s influence, along with lead vocalist Kelly Hansen, bass guitarist Jeff Pilson and multi-instrumentalist Tom Gimbel.

Founded in 1976, Foreigner’s debut album produced the hits “Feels Like The First Time”, “Cold As Ice” and “Long, Long Way From Home”.  The album Double Vision followed, as did a string of hits like “Urgent”, “Juke Box Hero” and “Waiting For A Girl Like You”.  Those songs helped give Foreigner’s next album, 4, its impressive run at #1 on the Billboard chart.  At the zenith of 80’s sound, Foreigner’s fifth album, Agent Provocateur, gave the world the incredible #1 global hit,” I Want To Know What Love Is”. This musical milestone followed the record-breaking song “Waiting For A Girl Like You”.

The frenetic ride of the original Foreigner incarnation reached a milestone in 2002 when Gramm and Jones performed together for the last time. With much support and encouragement, Jones rallied a newly-charged powerhouse lineup which included the recruitment of Kelly Hansen as vocalist, opening full throttle the re-emergence of astounding music that speaks to both hard-core Foreigner fans and younger generations.

With renewed energy and direction, Foreigner released Can’t Slow Down in 2009, which entered the Billboard chart in the Top 30 and had great success on radio with two Top 20 singles. To follow was the release of the band’s 3-disc set, Feels Like The First Time, which included an acoustic CD with an intimate and unique re-interpretation of many Foreigner classics, studio re-records by the new lineup and a live performance DVD showcasing the group’s exceptional live energy.

In 2012, Foreigner experienced another surge in popularity when several of their hits were featured on the Rock of Ages soundtrack, including “I Want To Know What Love Is”, “Juke Box Hero” and “Waiting For A Girl Like You” – more songs than any other one band on the soundtrack.  Hollywood quickly took note, and several more tracks were featured in hit films “Magic Mike” and “Pitch Perfect”, sending Foreigner downloads up 400% with their catalog, outselling The Eagles, Def Leppard, and even The Rolling Stones this year.
Also in 2012, Mick Jones was nominated to The Songwriters Hall of Fame. A multi-talented and multi dimensional “musician’s musician”, Jones has also written songs such as “Bad Love” with Eric Clapton and “Dreamer” with Ozzy Osbourne, and produced records for others including Billy Joel’s Storm Front and Van Halen’s  5150.  A Grammy and Golden Globe-nominated songwriter, Jones is the winner of the prestigious British Ivor Novello Songwriter Award for “The Flame still Burns”, the soundtrack music for the film Still Crazy.

Friends of Fogelberg Concert

Friends of Fogelberg is an Amarillo based non-profit organization which will be producing this tribute concert to the late Dan Fogelberg, beloved singer-songwriter of the 70s, 80s and 90s who sadly passed away from prostate cancer in 2007 at the age of 56.

Long time Lubbock musician,  Junior Vasquez, will be directing and performing in the show as well as some of Lubbock’s finest musicians - presenting an evening of Dan Fogelberg’s music, celebrating the life of this timeless singer-songwriter, at the same time – fighting this deadly man’s disease.

The concert is slated for September 18th, the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center Theatre. Funds raised will benefit the Covenant Foundation to continue the fight against prostate cancer.

Friends of Fogelberg is a volunteer organization, meaning no one in our group is being paid. We’ve begun a great grass-roots movement we believe can make a real impact on the health of men – not only in Amarillo and Lubbock, but across the nation! Think Blue Too!

.

“My goal is to bring the term ‘Chicano’ to the forefront of the art world. Chicano art is American art.” – Cheech Marin

Cheech Marin is best known as one half of the hilariously irreverent duo of Cheech and Chong. While primarily known as an actor, a director, and a performer, Marin has developed what is arguably the finest private collection of Chicano art.In his multi-media presentation Chicano Art: Perspectives of an Art Advocate, Cheech Marin discusses the status of Chicano art in the U.S. today and his role as an art advocate of this school of American art.  In conjunction with the Presidential Lecture and Performance Series and Mr. Marin’s visit, Landmark Arts will be mounting the exhibition Chicanitas: Small Paintings from the Cheech Marin Collection, on display from October 3 through December 14.

The College of Visual & Performing Arts is pleased to honor Cheech Marin as a Visiting Scholar, an appointment made possible by the generosity of the Maegene Nelson Visiting Scholar Program in Cross-Disciplinary Arts. Paul McCartney

PAUL McCARTNEY RE-SCHEDULED TO OCTOBER 2nd

"I'm sorry but it's going to be a few more weeks before we get rocking in America again. I'm feeling great but taking my docs' advice to take it easy for just a few more days.  Look forward to seeing you all soon."-Paul McCartney

Paul McCartney has confirmed that he will, however reluctantly, heed medical advice to rest up just a bit longer to fully recuperate from the virus that forced the postponement of his recent dates in Japan and Korea.

The Out There world tour will now resume July 5 in Albany, NY, and the June 14-26 shows in Lubbock, Dallas, New Orleans, Atlanta, Jacksonville, Nashville and Louisville have been rescheduled to October. Tickets for the original June dates will been honored for the new dates detailed below.

The Out There tour, as always, features music from the most beloved catalog in popular music, as Paul performs songs spanning his entire career--as a solo artist, member of Wings and of course as a Beatle. The set list will also include material from Paul's most recent studio album NEW, a global hit upon its release last year.

The McCartney live experience is a once in a lifetime opportunity; in just three hours some of the greatest moments from the last 50 years of music are relived; music which for many has shaped the very soundtrack of their lives. The last decade has seen Paul and his band perform in a staggeringly impressive range of venues and locations, including outside the Coliseum in Rome, in Moscow's Red Square, Buckingham Palace, at the White House, a free show in Mexico to over 400,000 people, and even broadcast live into Space! Featuring Paul's band of the last 10+ years--Paul "Wix" Wickens (keyboards), Brian Ray (bass/guitar), Rusty Anderson (guitar) and Abe Laboriel Jr (drums)--the show never disappoints.

The tour also uses state of the art technology and production to ensure the entire audience has the best possible experience. With massive screens, lasers, fireworks, unique video content and, of course, the best songs in the world, a Paul McCartney show is so much more than just an ordinary concert. Paul's shows attract a multi generational audience from different backgrounds all brought together by his music.

Nunsense begins when the Little Sisters of Hoboken discover that their cook, Sister Julia, Child of God, has accidentally poisoned 52 of the sisters, and they are in dire need of funds for the burials.  The sisters decide that the best way to raise the money is to put on a variety show, so they take over the school auditorium, which is currently set up for the eighth grade production of “Grease.”  Here we meet Reverend Mother Regina, a former circus performer; Sister Mary Hubert, the Mistress of Novices; a streetwise nun from Brooklyn named Sister Robert Anne; Sister Mary Leo, a novice who is a wannabe ballerina; and the delightfully wacky Sister Mary Amnesia, the nun who lost her memory when a crucifix fell on her head.
