Cats

Theirs’ is the world of shadows, of back alleys, and of myths.  Theirs’ is the world of mystery.  Theirs’ is the world of the CATS!

November 20 - 23, 2014
Lubbock Moonlight Musicals Presents:
CATS
Lubbock Memorial Civic Center Theatre

Music by Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber
Based upon T.S. Eliot's "Old Possom's Book of Practical Cats

Mesmerizing movements and daring stunts like Lubbock has never seen before!  Experience the magic that has stunned and intrigued audiences and made CATS the second longest-running show in Broadway history!  An electrifying musical tale, genres range from classical to pop, music hall, jazz, rock, and electro-acoustic.
In November, Lubbock Moonlight Musicals will once again bring professional theatre with a local flavor to Lubbock audiences with a new production of the musical CATS by Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber. The musical will be presented in its original form—completely staged and costumed—continuing a new era of cooperation and collaboration among Lubbock arts groups and artists. The cast of CATS will be headlined by Ken Page, again filling his former Broadway role of "Old Deuteronomy"; Todrick Hall, an American Idol semi-finalist; Jeff M. Smith, a Lubbock Moonlight Musicals alumni and Texas Tech graduate, who recently completed a national tour of the musical West Wide Story in the leading role of Tony; and stunning mezzo-soprano, Ann Marie Nichols in the role of Grizabella, the cat who sings the beloved ballad Memories.
Enter the world of alleys and shadows where a complex society exists among feline phantoms.  Initially veiled from human eyes, we hear only the haunting whisper of CATS!  The plot centers upon the Jellicle Ball, an annual event when the Jellicle Cats assemble to rejoice and choose which of them will journey to the Heaviside layer (heaven). This celebration is led by Old Deuteronomy, a wise, fatherly cat, who acts as the patriarch and guardian of all Jellical Cats. After overcoming the imposition of having an audience for their ball, the cats are introduced by Munkustrap, a grey tabby cat who acts as narrator and aide to Old Deuteronomy. As the cats are individually introduced, they audition to be chosen as the cat who journeys to the Heaviside layer. First is Jennyanydots (leading a troop of tap dancers); then comes Rum Tum Tugger, an extremely attractive prankster who enjoys being the center of attention (think Elvis); next is Grizabella, an older cat who once was glamorous and now has only "Memories"; and so the introductions continue…. After a skit where the cats dress up as feuding dogs; a bit of trouble with the villainous Macavity, which leads to a massive cat fight; magic by Mr. Mistoffelees; and many stunning dance sequences; the Jellical Ball is concluded with a final ballad by Old Deuteronomy as he announces the Jellical Choice.
Purchase your tickets now for this stellar production!

Ernie Haase & Signature Sound

Ernie Hasse + Signature Sound

The Grammy Nominated and Dove Award winning quartet are coming to Lubbock!!!

Sponsored by the Center of Global Understanding, the President of the board, Joe Scarborough describes the event as "Exciting, energetic and uplifting.  The perfect event to kick off your Christmas season with a bang.  If you haven't seen them before, this is the perfect opportunity to experience one of the greatest gospel music events, and if you have seen them before, then you'll know you need to again!"

Forget your normal Gospel Quartet.  Ernie Haase & Signature Sound (EHSS) have broken the mold.  Their unconventional approach to communicating the Good News with groundbreaking originality has blazed a trail that will go down in gospel music history.  Across Europe they have been nicknamed the "Ambassadors of Joy" because of the message of hope and joy that permeates their performances.

The group's founder and leader, Ernie Hasse, was a long-time member of the famous Cathedral Quartet, headed by the late George Younce.  Ernie's roots are deeply planted in the rich legacy of music that is both meaningful and thoroughly entertaining.  After the Cathedrals bade farewell to their five-decade run in the music industry, Ernie's passion for gospel music led him to a new beginning.  In 2003, he gathered a group of like-minded men who shared his love for God, great harmonies, time-honored songs and energetic performances, and together they have become one of the most influential forces in southern gospel music.

Key Performances in the groups history include:
White House Prayer Breakfast 2006
Carnegie Hall
Grand Ole Oprey 2009
NASCAR Atlanta Motor Speedway, National Anthem 2010 & 2011

Countries Visited:
Australia & New Zealand Tour 2011 & 2012 (Headliners)
European Tours 2009, 2010 & 2011 (Headliners)
Canadian Tours 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 (Headliners)
Eastern European Tour 2011 (Headliners)
South African Tour (Headliners)

The groups notable events include:
No.1 DVD on Billboard Music Video chart - Nov 2010
No.3 DVD on Billboard Music Video chart with Dream On - Oct 2008
No.1 DVD on Billboard Music Video chart with Get Away Jordan - Jan 2007
No.1 Album on Billboard Contemporary Christian Chart with Get Away Jordan - Jan 2007

Joe Bonsall of The Oak Ridge Boys describes Ernie Haase and Signature Sounds as "Not only a premiere cutting edge gospel group, but they have proven to folks all over the world that they are one of the most exciting and vibrant acts in the music business.  Their repertoire of gospel, county and patriotic songs are the perfect fit, I highly recommend Ernie Hasse and Signature Sound".
