Cher with Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo

With enormous regret, Cher has announced the cancellation of all remaining dates on her Dressed To Kill (D2K) concert tour.  Shortly before returning to the road in September, she was felled by an infection that affected her kidney function.  While her progress has been consistent, Cher’s doctors have advised her to take more time to ensure a complete and total recovery.

For the Lubbock, Texas show, refunds may be obtained starting Monday, November 24 at the Select-a-Seat box office located at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center, located at 1501 Mac Davis Lane.  The Select-a-Seat box office is open Monday-Saturday from 10am-6pm.  For additional information about returning tickets, please contact Select-a-Seat at (806) 770-2000.

Stand-up comic and Longview, Texas native Rodney Carrington’s “Here Comes the Truth” tour will hit Lubbock’s City Bank Auditorium January 24, 2015

Carrington has made a name for himself with a wild comedy act, but he’s also a musician with six studio albums under his belt. The black cowboy hat-wearing comic will take the stage in Lubbock, Texas Saturday, Jan. 24, 2015.

The comedian has just release two of his albums on his very own label, Laughter’s Good. He also started a brand-new YouTube series called Bit by Bit.

Tickets for the show go on sale Friday, Oct. 31.

The Clothesline Muse promises to engage audiences with a dynamic mix of artistic disciplines from live music, dance and spoken word to video projections and interactive art. A cast of six performers and six-time Grammy-nominated jazz vocalist Nnenna Freelon as “The Muse” take on the eternal chore of washing clothes, elevating the seemingly mundane task to new heights with generational wisdom, colorful imagery and original dance and song.

The Clothesline Muse was made possible with funding by the New England Foundation for the Arts' National Theater Project, with lead funding from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. Community outreach for this program was funded in part by a grant from the Sybil B. Harrington Endowment for the Arts of the Lubbock Area Foundation.

Annual Gala: Masquerade

Entitled Masquerade, our Annual Gala serves as the Chorale's most important fundraiser for scholarships.  This elegant evening event, with the audience seated at tables of eight, will be held in the lovely ballroom of The Legacy Event Center and will include a full dinner menu.  Patrons will enjoy entertaining music performed by the Chorale, talented soloists from the Chorale, and a jazz combo.  Prior to the concert portion of the evening and during intermissions, the audience will peruse a silent auction and raffle of donated items that will help fund our scholarship to students of the Texas Tech University School of Music.

Mardi Gras 2015

Lubbock Meals on Wheels is presenting the 16th annual Mardi Gras Celebration.  The event will take place on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 from 5:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at the Civic Center Exhibit Hall.  This spectacular event will include more than 37 food booths (with selections from your favorite local restaurants), live jazz music by the Shinn/Turner Dixieland Band, a large silent auction, cash bars plus a variety of activities and prizes.  Colorful masks and beads will be available to make the evening even more festive. Everyone will also enjoy entertainment such as dancers, clowns, magicians, jugglers and flamboyant decorations in the official colors of purple, green and gold.  The expanded Children’s Area includes bouncers, climbers and face & hair painting to keep the kids entertained. 

Event tickets are $35 for adults, $10 for children 17 and under, and can be purchased in advance at Lubbock Meals on Wheels, any Select-A-Seat location (service charge applies) or for $40 at the door.  We accept cash, checks or credit cards and will be happy to mail tickets.  Benefit drawing will feature Southwest Airlines tickets (only 1000 chances to be sold - $5 each).  Please join us for a fantastic and fun evening and support a great program that feeds the homebound community.  In 2014, over 1,600 people were in attendance.  For more information call Lubbock Meals on Wheels at 792-7971.

Lubbock Meals on Wheels is a private, non-profit organization, dedicated to preparing and delivering hot, nutritious meals to those who are homebound, elderly, or disabled.  With the help of over 1,200 volunteers, over 180,000 meals were delivered in 2014.  We receive no government, nor United Way funding.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes Annual Victory Banquet

National Hall of Fame Coach Bobby Bowden has won more major college football games than all but one other coach in his 34-year career.  The legendary Florida State coach captured two national championships and a dozen conference titles, in addition to finishing ranked in the top five nationally for 14 consecutive seasons.  Out of his 34-year career, he took his teams to bowl game 28 consecutive times.

Bowden is a devout and outspoken Christian who has been involved with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.  FCA elected to name a national award after him in 2003 that is presented to a NCAA Division I football player who conducts himself as a faith model in the community, in the classroom, and on the field.

The South Plains FCA is proud to bring Bowden to Lubbock to celebrate their Annual Victory Banquet.  Tables and sponsorships are sold through the local website at, however, individual and group tickets will be available through Select-a-Seat.

Robert Hass is, first of all, a poet of great eloquence, clarity, and force, whose work is rooted in the landscapes of his native Northern California. Widely read and much honored, he has brought the kind of energy in his poetry to his work as an essayist, translator, and activist on behalf of poetry, literacy, and the environment. Awarded the MacArthur “Genius” Fellowship, twice the National Book Critics’ Circle Award (in 1984 and 1997), and the Yale Series of Younger Poets in 1973, Robert Hass is a professor of English at UC Berkeley.

Riyaaz Qawwali

Riyaaz Qawwali, a dynamic ensemble of 8 musicians, was established in 2006 in Austin, Texas under the leadership of Sonny K. Mehta, A classically trained musician.  The Qawwali genre is characterized by its dynamic rhythmic cycles, gripping melodies, as well as illustrious improvisational poetry.  The songs are usually sung in Persian, Urdu, Purbi and Punjabi, and the main themes are affection, devotion, and longing for the Divine. 

The performance is brought to you by the Fine Arts Academy of India, India Association of West Texas, and the Lubbock Arts Festival.
